Elementary PreK-5 SEL Curriculum

Elementary Curriculum: Purpose Pathways

Welcome to Purpose Prep’s Elementary curriculum called Purpose Pathways. In this program, students become Purpose Leaders and learn how to understand, manage, and regulate their emotions such as sadness, anger, fear, happiness, love, and peace. Students also learn about respectful and inclusive behavior along with communication skills that are helpful for building a positive classroom and school culture. Each offering and course includes a comprehensive set of teacher- and student-tested resources: media-rich instructional videos, printable worksheets, online learning, and creative assignments and activities such as the check on learning quizzes, call-to-action assignments, and our RollEmotions Discussion Cubes Game. The Purpose Pathways curriculum is packaged based on early elementary (Grades PreK-2) and late elementary (Grades 3-5).

Research has proven that social and emotional learning is essential for students of all ages. Our Whole Human Development method helps our youngest students master what they feel, why they feel it, and how to navigate through negative emotions to create positive emotions. Each day, children and adults make ~3,000 – 35,000 decisions, all of which are connected to our emotions, feelings, and moods. Purpose Prep is helping our youth develop early skills that lead to a life of Purpose, responsible decision making, healthy emotions, and flourishing relationships.

The Sparks: Cosmic Crew of Emotions

The Sparks, an engaging “cosmic crew of emotions,” helps students identify and communicate their emotional experiences effectively. To empower students to learn foundational SEL skills across the five CASEL-defined competencies, Purpose Prep teaches young students to “Recognize and Regulate” their emotions, utilizing each character of The Sparks, a unique color, and words, to represent emotions.

Purpose Prep’s PreK-5 SEL curriculum focuses on the Inner Circle of its Theory of Classifications of Emotions, covering six Basic Emotions & Feelings appropriate for PreK-5 learners. This tool increases a student’s Emotional Intelligence (EQ) across the core social emotional learning skills: self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision making, social-awareness and relationships skills. Each of these competencies improves as students advance beyond and throughout the Purpose Prep SEL curriculum.

Please contact us to download the Theory of Classifications of Emotions tool and to learn more about the Middle Circle: Advanced Emotions & Feelings (taught in Middle School Grades 6-8) and The Outside Circle: Complex Emotions & Feelings (taught in High School Grades 9-12).
